The history of Skomagerhuset

Skomagerhuset was originally a small annexed house from the main building on the corner of Nørregade. The house is built of locally made bricks and has presumably been used either for storage or as a horse stable. For many years, the main hause was home to the town`s printing press.

The little annex that now houses the gallery was occupied by the town`s shoemakes for a number of generations, hence the name Galleri Skomagerhuset. Perhaps that is why the joy of good hand craft and tradition can be felt in the building - mere 53 m2
